Why I Started We Bake a Change

Some dreams begin quietly, in the warmth of a kitchen, in the comfort of familiar hands, in moments we do not yet realize will shape our entire lives. For me, that dream began long before business plans, social media, or big visions. It began with flour dusted countertops, laughter, and the simple joy of baking with my grandma.

My love for baking began in childhood, standing beside my grandma in the kitchen. Those moments of mixing batter, rolling dough, and tasting frosting lit a spark in me. Baking became more than a fun hobby. It became a language of love, a way to create joy with my hands, and a way to bring people together through something as simple as dessert.

As I grew older, that passion evolved into a business called Everything Just Baked. What started as cakes for friends and family turned into a full time dream, connecting me with an incredible community across social media. I will forever be grateful for every person who has supported my work, trusted me with their celebrations, and shared stories of how my cakes made them smile, inspired them to bake, or simply brightened their day.

But as my platform grew, so did my perspective. I realized something important. I could use this gift for more than business. I could use it to change lives. I began thinking about people who do not always have a reason to celebrate. People facing illness, financial hardship, loneliness, grief, or simply the weight of life. People who deserve love, recognition, and joy just as much as anyone else.

I kept coming back to the same belief. Everyone deserves a cake. A beautiful, delicious, thoughtful cake. Everyone deserves to feel celebrated.

That belief became We Bake a Change.

Our mission is simple but powerful. To bring moments of sweetness, hope, and celebration to those who need it most through the kindness and creativity of our Sweet Crew of volunteer bakers. Every cake is a reminder that someone is seen. Every delivery is a reminder that someone cares. Every act of baking becomes a moment of healing and connection.

We are still brand new, but my vision is big. I hope We Bake a Change becomes a long lasting movement, a legacy of kindness where joy is shared freely, celebrations are inclusive, and a simple cake becomes a symbol of love and comfort. Through creativity, community, and the huge hearts of volunteer bakers, I hope we can brighten thousands of lives. Maybe even millions.

We Bake a Change is more than a nonprofit — it’s a movement built on love, sweetness, and the belief that everyone deserves a moment to feel special. And this is just the beginning.
